Tough Call

I wanted to post this earlier but it slipped my mind.
And no the situation is not related to my life in any way (important/necessary disclaimer lol).
I just like it for some reason.

In Grey's Anatomy S6 Ep 12 (I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked).
This conversation happened (somewhat abridged to highlight the relevant discussion at hand).

Christina: If you have to choose between the thing you love (surgery) and the person you love, which would you choose? you cannot have both. you have to choose. doing the procedure is the only thing that matters. like if you don't get to do it you'll die. that't what you have to give up.

Izzie: For what?

Christina, Alex, Meredith: Love

Meredith: Why?

Christina: You know you couldn't do it. you know you'd choose the procedure.

Meredith: Fine! if i had to choose, gun to my head, i would choose surgery.

Christina: Oh well thank you! its that so hard to say? i don't know why it's so bad to say that out loud.

Izzie: Because its crazy.

Christina: How?

Izzie: Its crazy. surgery. its just a job. its just a job. its a thing you come home from, not a thing you come home to, and if you lose your job, u get another one. cause there's always another one. but if you lose your love. if you think you're losing your love, then suddenly nothing else matters.

Alex: Love comes and goes. surgery doesn't.

I think its easy for most of us to choose the big L coz we're not head over heels with our job, unlike these characters in GA. But say all is well and rosy for us in the working world.. would you choose uncertainty over security? Just a thought.
