Saturday night, I went to an acoustic concert at Taman Budaya in KL.. titled.. Love, Peace & Harmony Concert 2007.. organized by Xfresh.com and Deathstar Productions and Malaysians for Peace. Got free tickets courtesy of a DJ friend on XfreshFM. The performers were relatively unknown, underground bands.. yet to break into the Malaysian mainstream music industry. 8 bands performed. 1 band sucked really bad, 1 band was so-so but attitude wise, they were assholes.. 3 bands were totally awesome mmg best gila.. the other 3 were good. so to sum it up, I really enjoyed myself ya... went with 3 other friends, and surprise2.. met another bunch of friends at the theater.. a fun night, good time spent. If you're interested in our local underground bands, read on.

--The awesome bands are namely

1) The Shahrins Band
totally awesome songs, drum beats were unique, songs were like a fusion of light rock+raggae+soul+world.. lead singer nyanyi ala2 dave matthews. best group of the night.

2) Fasy

they're from Maldives, but I think they reside in Malaysia maybe? The Lead guitar player was omfg hebat gila nak mati, played quite a few instrumental pieces, I closed my eyes most of the time to actually appreciate the good music and get into it..

3) Mia Palencia

She's a Filipino-Malaysian.. suara sedap gila.. mmg merdu habis lahh.. played the guitar (rhythm), lead guitarist was a perempuan yeay! goreng2 lagi.. I like.. composes her own songs.. I took videos for every song that she sang hahah.. Ex member of a band called Double Take.

--The 3 OK bands are
1) Astar

They're engineering students from University Malaya.. hahahah.. berfoya-foya plak kanak2 ni... but takpe, I like them coz they're engineering majors hahaha.. lead singer was quite good.. they played only covers though.. a remake of Widuri by Broery Marantika.. sedap bebb.. cam pop+raggae.. they even had an accordian! hehe coolness.. and the other song was Dialova.. so-so lah this one, i don't like this song.. but they played it ok.

2) Superbar

Know what? Anybody can mis-spell the band name as Superbra.. hahahh.. my dj friend cum emcee of the night said this. This is a punk band, they were quite good lah.. but coz I don't like punk bands.. cam Good Charlotte etc.. so I didn't think anything else. They didn't play acoustic though, suka hati je..

3) Zubira

Nice songs, lead singer was ok, played well.. nothing much I can say. Borrowed bass guitarist from Jeopardise, borrowed drummer from Seven Collar Tshirt (the only band name that I've heard of prior to coming to this concert actually).

--The band that sucked was
1) Panic Overdrive
Lead singer sumbang sikit2. Guitarists were mediocre, and kantoi sekali masa tgh goreng.. was kinda obvious cause the other guitarist had to slow down the rhythm for him to get back into the right beat.. THeir songs were.. normal.. ala2 All American Rejects.. which is kinda irritating.

--The band with the attitude problem

1) Paku

They were pissed cause Superbar 'broke the rules' and did not perform acoustic. They complained about the sound system (which I thought was really good actually--the sound system, that is). If behind curtains takpe, but all these complaints were actually said on stage infront of every freakin person there, they were the last band and it was 12.15am and everyone was tired and wanted to go back and they had to be a bitch. They announced that they were gonna on a 'UK tour' in the next few weeks and applause was minimal, hah! They asked the audience to come to front and head bang I guess.. nobody moved. Enough said.

--So, do check out the top 3 bands I talked about if you have the chance. Support local bands! NOT Indonesian groups!!!
